GANGA EK ANTAR YATRA 2012

Ganga—EkAntarYatra is actually a once in a lifetime yatra. The experiences a person has in this trip can’t be experienced ever again. Travelling with your friends and teachers you meet every day in school is a different experience all together.

You learn and see things about people you never thought were there. Experiencing a situation of being just a few seconds late to catch the train is an experience that you would never want to go through, but handling this situation with all your friends and teachers together was a lot of fun.Having dinner at 12o'clock at night at a restaurant in the railway station was fun.

Once we all reached the beginning point of our journey after the plans had been reworked, we all were satisfied and ready for an amazing Yatra at Rishikesh.The day we went rafting was an exciting one. Thosewho were very scared before the first rapid and wanted to turn around faced their fearsand crossed it without any problems at all.

Once we reached Gangotri,the starting point for our trek, we were all very excited and ready to go.

The first day’s trek was 9 km. long and we were all out of shape and it took us about 6 hours to complete the journey.When we reached, the tents were already pitched and we moved to the beach to relax and admire the beauty.

Ah, the beauty of such a place cannot be described in words even by the best poet. When we started to trek to Boghwasa from Chirwasa we could feel the cold because the sun was hidden behind clouds and the wind was strong. There was a part in our trek where a landslide could occur at any minute; we were very careful there. Reaching Boghwasa was amazing: a much closer view of the enormous glacier from where the holy Ganga starts.

The day we trekked to Gomukh, the walk was easy and beautiful.When we reached Gomukh we all got ready to take a bath in the cold water. Some of us only dunked our full heads in the water for some time and some dunked their full bodies.The water was freezing cold. Then we went back to the camp site. The next day while trekking back to Gangotri it was a miracle that we trekked 15 km in 3 hours; almost one third of the time it took us all to go.
