From his famous speech: A Tryst with Destiny

On the 17thof March, 2012, students of Grade 8, travelled 82 years back in time to visit the house of India’s first prime minister,Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. It was truly an experience of a lifetime. The Teen MurtiBhavan was designed by a British architect, Robert Tor Russell, for the British commander-in-chief during the British rule in India.Nehruji’s aura accompanied us throughout the trip. With the help of our guides we dug deep into time and were able to sight all the events that took place at the time of our freedom struggle.

As we set foot in the museum, we were divided into 3 groups led by different guides. We were shown the 800-year-old hunting lodge, built by the once ruling emperor of Delhi, Firoz Shah. We came across the residential rooms of Nehruji and Indira Priyadarshini Nehru.

 

We also came across many galleries, saw the very precious and prized gifts presented to Jawaharlal Nehru by other countries and were lucky enough to hear “A Tryst with Destiny” to awaken our zeal for the country. Getting a glimpse of English architecture and the infrastructure was a very unique and interesting experience. We were empathetic and felt the pain for our country as if we were witnessing the action.

The trip to Teen MurtiBhavan truly revealed to us certain secrets which we were unaware of that we, as Indians, were proud to learn about. We brought into our knowledge the names of several martyrs, several artifacts and got an up-close glimpse ofPandit Jawaharlal Nehru's life. For us, it was a moment of pride, pure delight and happiness.
